Well the Brighton Festival got off to a great start despite the dreadful weather! The Garden House www.gardenhousebrighton.co.uk is a fantastic venue with 20 artists exhibiting in the garden, a really quirky mix of outdoor art. Eva Wibberley’s at 24 Harrington Villas was also really busy on the first weekend, Eva is hoping to be able to serve her famous cakes in the garden next time! I have ceramics at the Garden House and drawings at Eva’s, and am also taking the opportunity to promote my workshops, talks and courses that are coming up (see both the talks and workshops page and the courses page for more details). Note there is a 10% discount for bookings made in May for talks and workshops at the Garden House.

I will be at the Garden House on:

 Sat 5thMay 12-3pm;  Sat 12thMay 12-3pm;  Sun 20th May 12-3pm; Sun 27th May 12-3pm

I will be at Eva’s on:

 Sun 6thMay 11-2pm; Sun 13thMay 11-2pm; Sat 19th May 11-2pm

As a practising visual artist, I have been keeping sketchbooks since I was 16. My sketchbook and my camera are my two essential travel companions. To me there is nothing more satisfying at the end of a journey, or a visit to a garden or gallery, than starting to put together a visual record. I combine sketches, photographs, notes and whatever tickets, leaflets and other bits and pieces I have collected together. This is a very portable form of art – all that’s really needed is a pair of scissors, glue and a selection of paints, papers, pens and pencils.
